HARMONIC FILTER

A device for removing harmonic currents that are flowing in a power distribution system. Harmonic filters can be passive in operation, in which case they absorb harmonics using a tuned electrical circuit comprised of capacitors, resistors, and inductors, or they can be active in operation in which case they remove harmonics electronically. (see: Harmonic Suppression System.)
