Glossary Of Terms

SAG

A momentary decrease in voltage level lasting from a few milliseconds to a few hundred milliseconds. Sags are usually caused by the start-up power demands of many electrical devices (including motors, compressors, elevators, shop tools, etc.). Sags of longer than about 10 to 20 milliseconds may cause computer equipment to malfunction like have frozen keyboards and data errors. A sag may also be known as a dip or brownout. (see: Voltage)
