A Business in High Tech Harmony: US Chamber of Commerce Article Features Harmonics Limited
The US Chamber of Commerce recently published an interview with CEO Don Moore, for its Success Insight: A Chamber Member’s Story series. The article focuses on the company’s rebranding and re-launch, with emphasis on the green energy savings benefits of HL’s Harmonics Suppression Systems (HSS).
Jeff Shockley to Represent Harmonics Limited in Virginia
Rich Bell, President of Harmonics Limited, Inc. has appointed Jeff Shockley, the Principal of Orchestrated Electrical and an expert in power distribution and savings systems, to represent the company’s Harmonic Suppression Technology throughout Virginia.
Kevin Miller Appointed to Represent Harmonics Limited
President Rich Bell has announced the appointment of Kevin Miller of M2Electric to represent its patented Harmonic Suppression Systems in North Carolina. Miller, a graduate of Loyola Marymount’s Hilton School of Business and an expert in green solutions that lower the impact on the environment, will handle sales throughout the state.
Harmonics Limited was formed in the early 1990s to develop, manufacture and market patented harmonics suppression technology which had been designed to counter the damage of the 3rd harmonic current generated by heavy computer demand on power distribution systems. That demand, which creates a non linear load on the transformer, also creates harmonic currents including the damaging 3rd, which wastes electrical capacity, causes excessive waste heat on transformers, switch gear and wiring, requires extra energy and increases operating costs. It also causes increased carbon emissions. Transformers installed before the proliferation of computers in data centers, (financial institutions, college dormitories, schools, hospitals, casinos and the like) particularly suffered from this 3rd harmonic current. The newly designed Harmonics Suppression System technology (HSS) became the platform for the company which has grown steadily over the last several years.
Today, HL is positioned to help customers take advantage of the growing worldwide demand for increased energy efficiency, savings and corporate sensitivity to environmental concerns. In terms of power distribution, this manifests itself through the use of less energy resulting in lower carbon emissions and a cleaner environment. HSS enables organizations to realize annual operating savings for the life of their transformers and obtain a position in the mainstream of the Green Movement.
Harmonics Limited has a broad base of over 10,000 installed systems in continuous operation throughout the United States. These systems run 24/7 delivering quality power reliably as well as an energy conservation solution with attractive ROI. They have helped a wide variety of projects in numerous industries recoup as much as 30% of wasted system electrical capacity, save tens of thousands of dollars through reduced energy consumption and air conditioning costs while contributing directly to the greening of these communities where HSS is in use. They may also contribute to LEED points under innovative technology credits.
The Company maintains its Corporate Headquarters in Brookfield, CT with a Technology and Product Demonstration Center in Raleigh, NC. The Company sells its products principally through a network of independent sales representatives, located throughout the U.S. The National Sales Office is in Pittsburgh, PA with Regional Sales and Support Offices in California, Texas and Virginia. It also has International Representation in the Middle East via The Kanaan Group (US based) with offices in Dubai, UAE.
Growing acceptance of the HSS technology is attested to by the caliber and breadth of the companies employing it. In 2008 alone, new acquisitions of the SysteMax for existing transformers and/or the TransMax (new installations) have been made by Yale University, MIT, Smith College, the Hospital for Special Care and numerous other institutions and corporations. Increasingly, consulting and design engineers, commercial architects, building owners and managers are taking advantage of the opportunity to save money and reduce carbon emissions through use of the SysteMax on their current power systems and TransMax on new ones.
